Dr. Baawo said the government will provide support to healthcare waste management to the first 47 health facilities in the 15 political sub-divisions of the country, which will be funded by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
The Ministry of Health official informed journalists that of the 624 healthcare workers from the 47 health facilities, the government has trained 577, representing 95 percent, in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC).
Dr. Baawo also noted that 598 of the 624 healthcare workers have infra-red thermometers for monitoring patients’ temperature before assessing health status.
