The Liberia Airport Authority Ebola Crisis Management Plan

This is to inform all Airport Stakeholders (i.e. Employees, Airlines, Vendors, and other Users) that given the recent outbreak of the Ebola virus in the country, the Board of Directors of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) is implementing the following safety measures/procedures effective immediately at the various airport facilities within the Republic of Liberia:

 

(A) The following measures are mandatory for Airport Employees:

  • Wearing of Rubber/Latex gloves;
  • Usage of alcohol based Hand sanitizer;
  • Usage of Rubber/Latex Gloves, Aprons/Long Sleeve Coveralls and Surgical masks for cleaning staff;
  • Screening/Testing for the Ebola Virus (in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH));
    • Usage of Testing (kits provided by MoH);
    • Monitoring of Body Temperature;

(B) The following measures are mandatory for ALL Travelers:

Outbound Passengers: 

  • Screening for the Ebola Virus (in collaboration with the MoH)
    • Signs;
    • Symptoms;
    • Temperature;
    • Other
  • Respond to Healthcare Questionnaire

Inbound Passengers:

  • Random screening for the Ebola Virus
  • Mandatory screening for ALL passengers from Countries where there are reported/known outbreaks
  • Respond to Health Care Questionnaire
  • Monitoring of Body Temperature

The following additional safety measures shall be implemented:

  • Sanitize ALL general areas after each movement or every hour (using Clorox solution);
    • Counters
    • Doors
    • Restrooms
    • Buses/Vehicles
    • Other
  • Disseminate Ebola-related informational materials to all;
  • Dispose of all waste in approved bins/barrels for proper safe disposal (in collaboration with MoH);
  • Maintain surveillance/monitoring of passengers & workers (MOH);
  • Ensure regular Ebola awareness training sessions (in collaboration with MOH);
  • Maintain stringent Access Control procedures;
    • Terminate access passes issued to escorts, etc.;
    • Deny non-travellers/passengers any form of access to the Airport facility
    • Allow only essential personnel on the Landside or Airside
  • Provide safe/secure quarantine area for suspected cases (in collaboration with MoH);
  • Post emergency phone numbers in clearly visible locations;
    • Maintain emergency call list
  • Increase/strengthen law enforcement/airlines partnership

All airport stakeholders are advised to comply with the aforementioned procedures. Any failure will lead to immediate denial of entry to the Airport and its facilities.
