President Sirleaf particularly thanked Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara for lifting the sanction which banned ships from Liberia from docking at seaports in Ivory Coast.

The Liberian leader also commended the President of Senegal, Macky Sall, for agreeing to allow SN Brussels to start its operations in Senegal on Thursday, August 28, with technical stops in Dakar.

She made the commendations at a joint press conference held in the foyer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Monrovia on Wednesday.

According to President Sirleaf, Liberia recognizes the support and solidarity being received from other African countries during this difficult period in the country’s history as it has been stricken by the deadly Ebola disease.

Meanwhile, the Liberian leader has thanked the President of the African Development Bank (AFDB), Dr. Donald Kaberuka and the WHO Regional Director for Africa, Dr. Luis Gomez Sambo, for a grant of US$6 million to Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone to fight Ebola.

President Sirleaf said the Liberian people will forever remain grateful to WHO and AfDB as well as to all of its partners who have identified with Liberians in this national fight.

It can be recalled that some African countries, including Ivory Coast and Senegal, closed their air and seaports, banning flights from Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone from landing and docking in their countries.
