(LINA) - Disorderly conduct, persistent non-support, simple assault and theft of property are dominating court dockets across Grand Cape Mount County.

Making the disclosure to journalists in Robertsport Monday, Senior Associate Magistrate of the Robertsport Magisterial Court, Robert B. Shannon, said these cases are carried to court on a daily basis.

Magistrate Shannon said many of the defendants are sometimes sent to prison due to their inability to obtain a bail bond in accordance with the law.

He praised lawyers and complainants for making constant follow-ups on their cases in court which, he said, is enhancing speedy trial of cases in the courts.

He noted that the courts are also using the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to settle some minor cases, which is geared towards the speedy trial of cases on the dockets of courts in the county.
