(LINA) – A Liberian businessman has appealed to the Ministry of Commerce to encourage Liberian entrepreneurs by ensuring that the 25 businesses set aside

exclusively for Liberians are protected against infiltration by foreigners.

In an interview with the Liberia News Agency at his Benson Street office, the Chief Executive Officer of the Arden Printing Press, Dave Herron, disclosed that foreigners are taking over businesses set aside exclusively for Liberians.

He cited the printing industry which, he said, is dominated by foreigners, noting that government gives them more lucrative contracts than their Liberian counterparts.

Herron noted that the country stands to benefit more when local business people are given the opportunity to expand their businesses by awarding them contracts that will make them to become active taxpayers.

He noted that foreign nationals are also involved in a number of businesses set aside for Liberians, but government is not taking action to discourage this practice.
