philanthropists, and local and international charity organizations to help save his life.
Little Michael is unable to eat or drink. He developed this complication when he accidentally ingested diluted caustic soda a month ago. He is now badly malnourished due to the lack of food in his system, family sources say.
Doctors in Liberia have tried to solve the problem, but failed because of the critical nature of his case and the fact that the Liberian health sector was badly affected by the Ebola crisis. Local medical authorities therefore referred the lad to neighboring Ghana for advanced medical treatment.
According to the father of the ailing child, Michael Jappah, doctors in Ghana say the boy needs critical surgery in order to survive, one that can only be performed in Egypt, South Africa, or the United States of America.
According to Mr. Jappah, doctors in Ghana say the surgery will cost between US$50,000 to 100,000, an amount he said his family is unable to afford. In a write-up on social media to a friend in Liberia, Mr. Jappah said he and his wife are in utter distress over the critical medical condition of their only child.
The family is therefore calling on all good will individuals and philanthropic institutions at home and abroad to help save the life of Little Michael Jappah, Jr. The father of the ailing boy has also launched an SOS call to the government of Liberia and foreign embassies accredited near Monrovia to help the family to underwrite the medical bill of little Michael.
