(LINA)-President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of congratulations to the Government and People of Italy on the occasion commemorating the 69th

Anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Italy.

In her message to President Sergio Mattarella, President Sirleaf extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Italian leader, and through him, to the Government and People of Italy on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia, and in her own name.

She expressed the hope that in furtherance of the strengthening of the excellent relations enjoyed by the two countries, the two nations will continue to work together to explore avenues for the expansion of the bilateral cooperation in other mutually rewarding spheres.

President Sirleaf also expressed deep appreciation to the international community, for the support received including that of Italy’s contributions towards the fight against the Ebola Virus Disease.

A Foreign Ministry release noted that this resulted to the declaration by the World Health Organization (WHO) on May 9, 2015 officially announcing the end of the Ebola Virus outbreak in Liberia.

The Liberian leader also assured the people of Italy of Liberia’s commitment to the shared goal geared towards the enhancement of human dignity and prosperity for all mankind.

She then wished President Mattarella personal good health, happiness and long life and for the Government and People of Italy peace, unity, and spiraling prosperity under his dynamic leadership.
