Pres. Sirleaf Extols Germany, Iraq, Lesotho On Anniversaries

MONROVIA, October 2, (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent messages of congratulations to the governments and peoples of three friendly countries on the occasion of their anniversaries.

They are the Federative Republic of Germany on the occasion of the 24th Anniversary of German Unity Day and the Peoples of the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom of Lesotho on the observance of the 82nd and 48th Independence Anniversaries of the two countries respectively.

“I would like to convey my sincere congratulations and profound best wishes to you and the government and people of the Federative Republic of Germany on behalf of the Government and People of the Republic of Liberia and in my own behalf”, President Sirleaf declared in her message to her German counterpart Joachim Gauck.

She said German-Liberian relations have continued to grow stronger over the years and that Germany remains “a very important partner” to Liberia, acknowledging its assistance to Liberia during this difficult period of the country’s history, particularly in the wake of the Ebola virus outbreak.

According to a Foreign Affairs Ministry release, President Sirleaf further noted with gratitude, Germany’s plan to assist Liberia in combating the deadly virus that is ravaging the nation.

In her message to Mr. Fuad Masum, President of the Republic of Iraq, President Sirleaf extended “warmest felicitations and best wishes to the Government and People of that Asian nation as it celebrates its 82nd Independence Anniversary.

President Sirleaf wished for the Iraqi leader personal well-being and for the people of Iraq future prosperity.

To the Government and People of the Kingdom of Lesotho, President Johnson Sirleaf conveyed warmest congratulations and best wishes following their 48th Independence observance.

She then assured the Government of Lesotho of Liberia’s determinations to work closely with Lesotho aimed at strengthening the cordial relations existing between both nations and to promote prosperity for their two peoples and lead them to brighter future.
