(LINA) – The Gbarpolu County police detachment on Tuesday arrested the son of former Gbarpolu County Representative Edward S. Mends-Cole and five others

for allegedly burglarizing the World Food Program (WFP) warehouse in Bopolu on May 28, 2015.

According to police charge sheet, the six defendants have been forwarded to the Bopolu Magisterial Court for prosecution on the charge of Theft of Property.

The defendants are Blackie Mends-Cole, Ballah M. McKay, Mamie Massaquoi, Wleh Weah, Eugene Holmes and Aaron Sumo, the warehouse security officer.

The court records quoted the complainant, CARITAS, the implementing partner of WFP in the county as saying that the defendants on May 28 made away with 69 bags of 50 kg rice and fifteen cartons of vegetable oil valued at US$3,225.00.

The defendants have since denied stealing any item from the warehouse as alleged by the complainant.
