MONROVIA, June12 (LINA) - Following submission of the draft 2015/2016 National Budget by the Executive to the Legislature, the Joint Committee of both Houses on Ways, Means, Finance and Development is inviting Government ministries and agencies to budget hearings beginning Monday, June 15.

The Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Development Planning, Lofa County Representative Moses Y. Kollie, said during the hearings performance reports from government institutions will be presented.

Addressing a news conference Friday at the Capitol, Kollie noted that in the past, the passage of the budget delayed due to the lackadaisical attitude of ministries and agencies in submitting the needed information.

He stressed that during this year’s hearing performance reports will be seriously taken into account before passage of the budget.

He explained that on June 15 the Liberia Revenue Authority will appear before the joint committee, while on June 16 the National Oil Company, Roberts International Airport and the Liberia Telecommunication Authority will appear.

Kollie said those expected to appear on June 17 include the National Port Authority, Forestry Development Authority, and Liberia Petroleum Refining Company, while on June 18 the Ministries of Transport and Labor, as well as the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization will appear before the committee.

He added that the Liberia National Police, Liberia National Fire Service, and the Ministry of Public Works will appear on June 19, while the Ministries of Health, Foreign Affairs and Internal Affairs, as well as the Liberia Domestic Airport Authority will appear on June 22 at different times.

The Liberia Maritime Authority, the Judiciary and the Ministry of Lands, Mines Energy and Environment will appear on June 23, he added.
