A local NGO has offered 20 scholarships to the Beh-Wien United Youth for Development (BUYFOD) in Barnersville outside Monrovia.

The Executive Director of the George Weah Global Institution of Vocational Education (GIVE), Dave Wonders, offered the scholarships during the official launch and fundraising program under the auspices of BUYFOD at the Voice of Ministries Church in Beh-Wien at the weekend.

Wonders indicated that the scholarships, offered to high school graduates and high school students, are GIVE’s way of aiding parents who cannot afford to pay their children’s school fees and to encourage the youths to stay in school.

He added that the gesture was also his organization’s way of helping to provide vocational and technical education to the youths of Liberia.

Also speaking, Press Union of Liberia Secretary General D. Kaihenneh Sengbeh admonished the youths to remain united and do away with all vices that have the propensity to create confusion among youths.

Sengbeh pledged, on behalf of the PUL, five bags of cement to help with the construction of the community bulletin board and also promised provide training opportunity for individuals willing to manage it.
