Following the reading of a letter to House Speaker J. Alex Tyler dated July 1, 2015 in Session Thursday, the Lawmakers resorted to a long Executive Session, after which 27 voted in favor of the President’s request, while four voted against with one abstention.
The consultative meeting between President Sirleaf and the legislators is slated for Monday, July 6, at the Capitol Building.
Meanwhile, the Liberian leader did not appear before the Plenary of the House of Representatives on Thursday as they earlier requested.
Lawmakers wanted the President to appear to explain why she instructed Education Minister George Werner to ignore what appears to be instructions conveyed to him under cover of letter dated June 23, 2015 by the Chief Clerk of the House, Mildred Sayon.
