In a message to her Colombian counterpart, President Juan Manuel Santos Calderon, President Sirleaf extended heartfelt felicitations and best wishes to the Colombian leader, and through him, to the Government and People of Colombia as that country observes its 205th Independence Anniversary.
President Sirleaf further noted that while Colombia celebrates this day, the People of Liberia are appreciative of the efforts to deepening the cordial ties of friendship and bilateral cooperation subsisting between Liberia and Colombia as demonstrated by the presentation of Letters of Credence on March 26, 2015, accrediting the first Colombian Ambassador accredited to Liberia.
She then entertained the hope that the cordial ties of friendship and cooperation subsisting between the two countries will be strengthened for the mutual benefits of their respective peoples.
The Liberian leader further informed that the Columbian Ambassador accredited to Liberia has been received, and has begun working with the authorities to strengthen the two countries’ partnership in new spheres which, she added, ultimately strengthens Liberia-Colombia bilateral ties.
President Sirleaf acknowledged with great appreciation, Colombia’s support through the World Health Organization to the fight against the Ebola pandemic which, she added, Liberia has successfully made some progress.
She also prayed that the Almighty God will continue to endow President Calderon with wisdom, good health and happiness as he leads the industrious people of Colombia to a prosperous future, and at the same time grant the people of Colombia sustained peace, national unity, and enduring prosperity.
