He said the National Legislature will do everything possible to provide the requisite subsidies to empower them to provide quality education to citizens.

In a message to the 15th Graduating Class of the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU), Jallah urged universities to redouble their efforts and work harder in developing the capacity of Liberia’s human resource.

He noted that 20 years of AMEU operations with the 15th set of hundreds of Liberian graduates, clearly demonstrates the institution's resolve to continue “the long, daunting and tortuous but successful journey which began years ago to educate men and women for worldwide leadership and service.”

Jallah then called for a reflection on the inspiring words of Kofi Annan which states that: “Education is a human right with immense power to transform. On its foundation rests the cornerstone of freedom, democracy and sustainable human development.”

He extolled the Board of Trustees, President, Faculty and the entire AMEU family for a job well done, adding, “I find the undergirding philosophy of your institution particularly inspiring in pursuit of excellence; a drive that is in the direction of national recovery and renewal.”

The vision to establish the African Methodist Episcopal University is credited to Bishop William Sampson Brooks, 8th Bishop of the 14th Episcopal District to transform the Monrovia College and Industrial Training School into a four-year degree granting institution.

Bishop Brooks’ dream was not actualized during his tenure as Bishop until succeeding Bishop C. Garnett Henning, Sr. opened the doors of AMEU in 1995.
