MONROVIA, August 3 (LINA) – The Assistant  Director for Operations at the Partnership for Research on Ebola Virus in Liberia (PREVAIL) has called on traditional  and religious leaders to encourage Ebola survivors to enroll in the Liberia-US  Joint Clinical Research Partnership.

The research is otherwise known as the Ebola Natural History Study.

Madam Julia Lysander stated that the Study is intended to diagnose medical complications survivors experience after their discharge from Ebola Treatment Units (ETUs).

Lysander made the call Monday when the Crusaders for Peace in collaboration with PREVAIL held one-day seminar for stakeholders within Montserrado County at the Monrovia City Hall.

She explained that some Ebola survivors have been complaining about various health complications since they were discharged from the ETU, noting that the study will diagnose the kinds of health problems they are experiencing to ensure proper medical treatment for them.

She stressed that traditional and religious leaders should prevail on their relatives and friends who survived the Ebola Virus in communities to participate in the study to ensure that they are relieved of any health complications.

Madam Lysander emphasized that the Ebola Natural History Study is a five-year study intended to prevent and treat any side effects Ebola survivors experience.
