He said the redundant employees will be paid two years instantly, get retraining and those with enhanced skills after the two years will be re-employed.

Werner made the disclosure Thursday when he appeared before the Senate plenary to clarify allegations that government plans to dismiss non-essential staff.

“The essence of this proposal is to redundant surplus government employees who are not working in context and reduce the institutionalization of poverty that has reduced government employees to mere beggars,” he said.
In July the government declared a number of civil servants non-essential staff and asked them to stay home and be paid their full salaries and benefits as part of measures to decongest public offices in the wake of the Ebola epidemic.

But when it emerged that plans were afoot to redundant the non-essential staff, the Liberian Senate cited the CSA Director General to clarify reports of plans.
