MONROVIA, August 11(LINA) - About 10,000 households in Nimba and Bong Counties are expected to receive cash transfers to improve their living conditions, the Chief of Party of ACDI/VOCA has disclosed.

Emmanuel Mugabi stated that the cash transfers are intended to upgrade the living standard of residents of communities that were severely affected by the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Liberia.
He did not state the amount per household.
Mugabi made the disclosure to journalists Tuesday at a one-day seminar for staff of the organization held at a local hotel in the Monrovia suburb of Sinkor.

He indicated that many households were affected financially due to the Ebola epidemic and that they need financial empowerment to cater to their families.

He explained that the cash transfer and cash for work programs are part of the Ebola response to vulnerable communities around the country.
ACDI/VOCA is a private international development non-profit organization based in the United States of America.
