MONROVIA, August 13 (LINA) - Deputy Internal Affairs Minister Stephen Neufville has underscored the need to contain garbage to prevent health hazards in the country.

Minister Nurfville also urged Liberians to get involved in solid waste management to dispose of garbage within communities around the nation.

The Deputy Internal Affairs Minister made assertion Thursday at a program marking the official draft National Solid Waste Management Policy Review held at the Monrovia City Hall.

He emphasized that Liberians should take ownership of disposing of garbage generated through their daily activities to ensure a clean and safe environment in the country.

He noted that the disposal of garbage is cost-intensive and that government alone cannot be responsible to dispose of solid waste, citing the danger garbage poses to the environment and the health of the people.

Minister Nurfviille emphasized that the national solid waste management policy review will identify mechanisms to ensure effective solid waste disposal that will protect against and prevent health hazards.
