Dr. Amos A.D. Sirleaf, a lecturer at the University, told the Liberia News Agency (LINA) in an interview on the main campus of the university in Suakoko, Bong County Tuesday that the introduction of Criminal Justice at the institution will be a major boost to the country’s security sector.

Dr. Sirleaf told LINA that the administration of the institution has put in place all of the necessary mechanisms to ensure that the course is offered during the 1st semester which is expected to begin in September.

According to the Cuttington University lecturer, the introduction of Criminal Justice will build the capacity of young people in the criminal justice system of Liberia which is crucial to the maintenance of peace and stability in the country.

He noted that what is more encouraging is that Cuttington will be offering both Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Associate degrees in the course, and is encouraging Liberian students to take advantage of this opportunity and become professional criminal justice actors.

“The introduction of criminal justice in Cuttington’s curriculum is part of the institution’s decentralization process as the African Methodist Episcopal Zion University (AMEZU) is the only University in Liberia offering a degree in this discipline,” Sirleaf noted.
