the Ministry of Transport has said.
The probe, being conducted by the Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA), is prompted by Kenya Airways management’s confirmation that it has increased the cost of air tickets from Monrovia to Accra, Ghana “for technical reason” since August 2015.
The release indicated that the Ministry and the LCAA met with the management of Kenyan Airlines to discuss the situation on Monday, August 31, requesting Kenyan Airways to provide technical data and justification for the price increase for analysis and review by government.
According to the release, a team of technicians and experts from the ministry and LCAA will investigate price and other data and information from the Kenyan Airways to inform a determination on the recent Kenya Airways price increase.
The investigation is expected to be concluded shortly.
The release added that Kenya Airways Country Director Felix Wambua has agreed to provide all relevant documents to the ministry.
The meeting was held in the office of Transport Minister Angela Cassell Bush and attended by the Director-General of LCAA, Richelieu Williams, Wambua and the Deputy Transport Minister, Juanita Traub-Bropleh.
The release noted that the ministry has advised the Liberian public to remain calm and assured all Liberians that both institutions will deploy the government’s capability and competence to bring the current airfare situation under control.
