Snowe said the unanimous support he received from his colleagues to represent Liberia along with other legislators at the ECOWAS Parliament speaks a lot about the expectations of their performance at the international body.

Speaking to a team of reporters at the Capitol Building in Monrovia Tuesday, Snowe noted that given the civil conflict experienced by the nation, the country is in dire need of development programs, something, he noted, will be pursued at the sub-regional parliament.

He pledged to also take advantage of the opportunity to lobby with other regional bodies to discuss issues affecting Liberia.

“Although it is absolutely a new territory, when we get there we will absorb the agenda and the impact of our work and engagements will be felt by the people of Liberia,” Snowe assured.

Recently, the House of Representatives elected Snowe, Sinoe County Representative Jefferson Kanmoh and Representative Haja Siryon of Bomi County to represent Liberia at the ECOWAS Parliament for a four-year term.

The ECOWAS Parliament is the Assembly of Peoples of the West African community, consisting of 115 seats, with each of the 15 member states having at least five seats.

The remaining seats are shared in proportion to each member country’s population, giving Nigeria the highest representation with 35 seats.
