MONROVIA, October 12 (LINA) - Chief Justice Francis Korkpor has described fallen Grand Kru County Public Defender Attorney William Sickey as “one of the strong pillars” of the country’s judicial sector.

Attorney Sickey, 54, died September 20 at the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Hospital in Tappita, Nimba County, after a brief illness.

The Chief Justice’s statement was contained in a tribute paid on his behalf by Associate Justice Jamesetta Wolokollie at the funeral service of the late Attorney Sickey held at the St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Logan Town on Saturday.

“The Judiciary has lost one of its best and we would find it difficult to fill the vacuum created as a result of the death of Attorney Sickey,” Justice Korkpor emphasized.

Delivering the funeral discourse, the priest of St, Edward’s Parish in Logan Town, Bushrod Island, Rev. Father Patrick Kroteh, called on lawyers to dispense justice to the people in a fair and transparent manner through the use of the law.

Following the funeral service, Attorney Sickey’s remains were interred at the Brewerville cemetery.
