MONROVIA, October 13 (LINA) -The Senate Tuesday unanimously voted to ratify the $US256.7 million Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact agreement recently signed between the Liberian and U.S. governments.

The ratification followed a motion of acceptance filed by Grand Gedeh County Senator Alphonso Gaye urging the plenary to accept the MCC report from the Joint Committees on Foreign Relations, Ways, Means, Finance and Budget, and Judiciary, Claims, Petition and Human Rights.

Following the vote, the Secretary of the Senate was mandated to forward the MCC agreement to the House of Representatives for concurrence.

The Senate’s ratification also follows a Joint Legislative hearing on the MCC Compact grant Monday at the Capitol Building, during which several stakeholders and speakers took the stand.

They included acting Finance and Development Planning Minister James Kollie, Public Works Minister William Moore and Lands, Mines and Energy Minister Patrick Sendolo.
