SANNIQUELLIE, October 14 (LINA) -The Administration of the Nimba County Community College (NCCC) is appealing to Nimba citizens in the Diaspora to assist the institution with money and materials to host its first graduation exercise on December 12.

Making the appeal at a stakeholders meeting on the campus of the college recently, NCCC president Dr. Yar Donlah Gono said the administration needs US$100,000 to host a successful graduation.

Dr. Gono, who traveled to the United States to solicit support from citizens of the county, named materials like gowns, printed degrees and academicals, as some of the materials needed for the ceremony.

She, however, told the gathering that some prominent Nimbians abroad, especially the United States, are lobbying with their colleagues to purchase 250 gowns, while 150 degrees are being processed for printing.

The meeting brought together prominent citizens of the county, including Representative Larry Younquoi, the County Legislative Caucus representative on the NCCC Board; Dr. Frederick Norkeh, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the head of the Nimba Marketing Association as well as chiefs and elders.

Following the meeting, the gathering raised US$260, L$12,800 in cash and L$30,000 in pledges at a rally held in the institution’s auditorium.
