Jallah explained that of the 27 bills, seven were passed into law; six sent to the House of Representatives for concurrence, while five were bills the Senate concurred with and the remaining nine sent to the President for concurrence.

Speaking to reporters at a special press conference held at the Capitol Building in Monrovia on Friday, Jallah said the Senate’s adjournment on Thursday, October 15, followed eight months of extensive work by the body since he ascended to the Pro-Tempore post.

He recalled that the Special Senatorial Sitting was a call from President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf during which she urged the Legislature to dispose of some issues on the agenda of the President that required legislative actions, adding: “We are happy we did this so as not to paralyze the government.”

The Gbarpolu Senator thinks his tenure thus far as Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate has been marked by overwhelming success, given significant strides to deliver on his promise to upgrade the Liberian Senate to 21st Century compliance.

Jallah cited some achievements made so far under his watch as head of the Senate, and referred to the current sanitary condition of the Senate wing of the Capitol, as well as the recent US$100,000 dollars budgetary support to augment allowances of staffers, among others.
