(LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has set up a Ministerial-Level Task Force to direct and coordinate economic development strategies and policy in each of

three critical sectors of the Liberian economy.
The three sectors are Agriculture and Agro-Processing; Mining; and Manufacturing and Business Support.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the Liberian leader named the Task Force of each critical sector during a special Cabinet meeting to discuss issues of strategic national importance, most especially the economic reconstruction and recovery efforts of the country on Friday, October 23.

Those nominated to the Task Force on Agriculture and Agro-Processing are President Sirleaf, (Chair); Minister of Agriculture (Deputy Chair) and the Ministers of Finance and Development Planning; Internal Affairs; Public Works; National
Defense; and Commerce and Industry as members.

Others are the Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia and the Chair of the National Investment Commission; while the Director-General of the Cabinet supported by the Economic Advisor will coordinate the Task Force.

The release said members of the Task Force on Mining include the Minister of Lands, Mines and Energy (Chair); with the Ministers of Finance and Development Planning; Justice; and Internal Affairs as members.

Others are the Director-General of the National Bureau of Concessions and the Commissioner-General of the Liberia Revenue Authority; while the Director-General of the Cabinet supported by the Economic Adviser will coordinate the Task Force.

According to the release issued Saturday, the Ministerial Task Force on Manufacturing and Business Support will be chaired by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, while the Ministers of Finance and Development Planning; Gender, Children and Social Protection; and Post and Telecommunications will serve as members.

Others are the Commissioner-General of the Liberia Revenue Authority, Director-General of the National Bureau of Concessions, and the Chair of the National Investment Commission; while the Director-General of the Cabinet supported by the Economic Adviser will coordinate the Task Force.

Each Ministerial-Level Task Force is mandated to identify key ongoing activities in the sector that could benefit from government support or assistance and prepare a timeline for possible government intervention(s).
They are to also identify opportunities and actions that can be planned and executed within the next six months; develop and submit detailed measures to implement the opportunities or actions identified; and report to the President and Cabinet weekly, the release said.
