(MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Tuesday, November 17, 2015) President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has led an array of senior government officials to the French Embassy and signed the Book of Condolence following the coordinated terrorist attacks that killed at least 129 persons and injured more than 350 others, with 99 being very critical.

The barbaric attacks took place at six different locations across Paris on Friday, November 13, 2015.

According to an Executive Mansion release, President Sirleaf told journalists after signing the Book of Condolence and consoling the French Ambassador to Liberia, H. E. Mr. Joel Godeau that her visit to the French Embassy was to extend deepest condolences to her French counterpart, H.E. François Hollande and through him, to the Government and People of France, particularly the bereaved families for the senseless tragedy that killed so many of their citizens.

“Liberia stands by them and we are here at the French Embassy to sign the Book of Condolence and to express our sadness, and to let France know that Liberia is a great friend of France and will always have that partnership,” the Liberian Chief Executive concluded.

Commenting on the visit, French Ambassador Godeau expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the Liberian President, Government and people of Liberia during the difficult period of the country’s history.

He stressed that though terrorism is a challenge for his country, “France is strong and resilient and will resist these terrorists.”
