MONROVIA, February 23 (LINA) - Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) Executive Governor, Dr. Mills Jones, has challenged Liberians to believe in themselves and sow seeds of growth that will uplift them to the anticipated middle class.

He said for the country to move forward with a new vision that promotes development, citizens must be confident and believe in the promise and possibilities of the country.

He was speaking at a program to honor him hosted by Women of the Village Savings Association of Liberia from across the country over the weekend in Monrovia for his long-standing and unflinching support to Liberian women.

Jones stressed that poverty is not the destiny of Liberians, and promised to support programs that will take citizens from market stalls to shops, from shops to stores and from being managers of stores to being distributors.

He hoped that the new economic transformation supported by the CBL will see Liberians become manufacturers of goods and producers of the country’s staple food rice, a commodity that consumes large portion of the money spent to buy from abroad.

“Success in raising the standard of living requires a vibrant private sector,” noted Governor Jones.
