MONROVIA, May 16 (LINA) - In continuation of the investigation relating to an abandoned vessel in Liberia’s western Grand Cape Mount County, the Liberian Coast Guard has discovered a Life Raft (boat) in the Township of Edina in Grand Bassa County.

According to a Defense Ministry press release issued at the weekend, the raft, which was marked TAMAYA 1, is believed to be one of the two boats that should have been on the abandoned Panamanian-reistered Nigerian Oil Tanker, which drifted on the shores of Robertsports, Grand Cape Mount County.

The Liberian Coast Guard upon the completion of their search, authenticated that it was indeed one of the two life rafts ( boats) onboard the abandoned Nigerian Oil Tanker, TAMAYA 1.

The release said the Liberia Coast Guard has taken full possession of the life raft and taken it to a secure location.

Meanwhile, the Joint Security, through the Ministry of National Defense has assured the general public that investigation regarding the abandoned Oil Tanker is still ongoing, and is therefore admonishing any member of the public having reliable information pertaining to the abandoned vessel or its crew members to come orward.

The Ministry warned that anyone harboring any of the crew members of the TAMAYA 1 vessel will be doing so at his or her own risk.
