According to Dr. Fahnbulleh, they will work in collaboration with other armed security officers, including the Liberia National Police (LNP), to ensure that the borders are fully secured not only against illegal entry but also against hostile individuals who are bent on creating chaos across the world.

He was speaking at the graduation ceremony of 250 BIN officers from the Camp Biago Training Center in Sinje, Grand Cape Mount County at the weekend.

Of the total number of graduates, 212 are males while 38 are females, bringing to 500 the number of officers who have graduated from the Sinje training center since 2015.

Fahnbulleh called on the officers to be on the alert at all times to deal with such individuals who usually come under the disguise of religious teachers.

He called on the officers to be vigilant and on the alert at their posts, especially for terrorists whose mission is to make people pay for what they are not responsible for; stressing: “You have many challenges ahead of you as you have decided to be enlisted in this force and as the country moves towards taking over its own security.

According to Fahnbulleh, the government through the BIN, will develop a bureau to train officers in the area of combat and also provide them computer training to be able to know what is trending around the world, especially in the area of terrorism.

“You have a major responsibility to know what is happening in the sub-region; that is why you will have to continue your training because there can be no development without security and there can be no security without development,” Fahnbulleh noted.

Meanwhile, Dr. Fahnbulleh has called on authorities of the BIN to ensure that officers at the major border points between Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast to learn the major languages of those countries such as Mende, Mandingo and Fula, among others, so that they can be more aware and informed.
