The unfortunate incident occurred on Monday, February 23, when they were hit by a cargo vessel while riding in a ferry in the Padma River, 25 miles northwest of the capital Dhaka, leaving the 70 persons dead.
According to a Foreign Ministry release issued in Monrovia on Wednesday, President Sirleaf, in her message to her Bangladeshi counterpart Abdul Hamid, extended heartfelt condolences to the Government and People of Bangladesh, especially the bereaved families for the irreparable loss sustained on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia.
The Liberian leader then prayed that Allah will grant His Excellency and the People of Bangladesh strength, courage and fortitude as they go through this period of national mourning.
