obstructing a ‘search and seizure’ execution by Court Sheriffs.

The tripartite body observed that Magistrate Kennedy Peabody’s judgment against Cllr. Moses Paegar, President of the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA); Cllr. Frank Musa Dean, Cllr. Albert Sims, Cllr. Cyril Jones and Cllr. Golda Elliot, shows that everyone should adhere to the rule of law in the country.

According to a press release issued by the Task Force on Tuesday, Judge Peabody’s action against the five lawyers demonstrates that no one is bigger than the law irrespective of their status or affiliations in society.

The Minister of State without Portfolio and Chairman of the Special Presidential Task Force, Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, further notes that individuals who are directly or indirectly affected by court actions should allow the law to take its course rather than block justice.

“No one is above the law. The decision by the court to adjudge each of those lawyers guilty with L$10,000 levied on each for obstructing justice, suggests that the rule of law is ready to take its course in Liberia.

“Gone are those days when people acted outside of the law to appease themselves. We hail the court for defending the rights of those Sheriffs. We also call for a strict adherence to the rule of law and commend the court for allowing justice to prevail in this matter,” said Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, Task Force Chairman.
