MONROVIA, June 17 (LINA) -Vice President Joseph N. Boakai has reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to the realization of the Early Warning System in countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

In remarks Friday when he received in audience the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Mr. Marcel Alain de Souza and delegation in Monrovia, VP Boakai explained that Liberia continues to move forward in the process and that mechanisms required to achieve the project are being put into place.

He reiterated that Liberia will continue to maintain the peace it has attained over the years and that with over 320 million people in the ECOWAS sub-region, the issue of peace and stability was paramount and crucial to the region’s economic growth and development.

Earlier, ECOWAS President de Souza described the issue of terrorism as a threat to the sub-region, and made specific reference to the unfolding situation in Guinea Bissau and the Mali crisis, and thanked Liberia for its support to ECOWAS efforts in these areas, according to a release from the VP’s office.
