“It is a continuous and restless pursuit, because we are aware that the transformation of Liberia is riddled with hurdles which, if not addressed by capacity, motivation and commitment of loyal civil/public servants, would be a reversal of such gains and even make the pursuit more difficult,” he noted.
Nyemah was speaking at the weekend during the graduation of 299 candidates in nine disciplines, including Human Resource Management, Banking and Finance, Internal Audit Control and Human Resource Performance Management.
According to the LIPA boss, it requires quality men and women imbued with nationalistic impulses and with a combined sense of modesty, competence and integrity, to re-arrange the architectural make-up of Liberia’s Public Administration System.
He described the first class graduation as a response to the call to duty in executing the mandate of the institute.
According to him, the transformational process is one that is intended to transmit the horrible experiences of the broken state confronted with the vestiges of conflict into one that will rise to the epicentre of a renewed and successful post-conflict success story.
He then urged the graduates to use the knowledge acquired and not abuse it for meaningless pecuniary gains which, he said, serve no useful purpose of promoting the ideals of a functional public service.
“I applaud your efforts. I salute your prowess and of course, I believe in your abilities. Go out now, and make the Public Service a hallmark of our Governance System,” the LIPA boss emphasized.
LIPA has the mandate to increase the human capital needs of Liberia by providing capacity development trainings and building a capacitated and productive public service complemented by an equally enabling private sector.
It also has the statutory mandate to qualify public and civil servants and above all prospective public servants.
Like the first cycle class of 2016 (299 candidates), the second cycle class is dominated by males who constitute over 65 percent of the total number of graduates.
