The warning goes to Ebola survivors currently enrolled in the Ebola Natural History Study (ENHS), an ongoing five-year medical research to determine causes of post-Ebola perennial sicknesses and develop treatment for them.
Speaking at the weekend at a community engagement and outreach meeting held in Nyehn Town, Todee District, Montserrado County, the Manager for Social Mobilization of PREVAIL, Mr. Bartholomew Wilson, told participants, mainly Ebola survivors, “if the doctor tells you not to drink, smoke or desist from certain habit please adhere to such advice.”
According to a release, he indicated that Ebola survivors suffering from post-Ebola perennial ailments must realize that their health conditions are critical and require special attention and care and as such should not take their health lightly.
Wilson also observed that some Ebola survivors have been slow in complying with schedules given them by health centers to return for
periodic medical check-up.
He noted that adherence to schedules given each Ebola survivor in the ENHS by health centers for their periodic medical check-up is not only vital to preserve and enhance the health of Ebola survivors undergoing the medical study, but also necessary for the success of the medical research at the close of the five-year period.
Also speaking on the issue, the President of the Ebola Survivors Network of Liberia, Mr. Patrick Farley, told participants that included local, traditional, religious, community leaders as well as heads of youth and women groups, that as a result of the periodic medical visit, he has been advised by doctors to eat plenty banana to correct the medical deficiency he has been faced with.
