PPCC Boss Warns Contractors Against Politicizing Bidding Process

MONROVIA, June 20 (LINA) - The Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC), James Dorbor Jallah, has warned Liberian contractors against using the media to politicize its bidding process.

Jallah pointed out that no political pressure from any quarter of the Liberian society can force the PPCC to disregard the rules and regulations governing its bidding procedures.

The PPCC CEO gave the warning Monday at the start of a one-day seminar for the development of the capacity of Liberian contractors on the preparation and submission of responsive tender documents held at the Ministry of Public Works in Monrovia.

According to Jallah, Liberian contractors are trying to politicize the bidding process through the media, when in fact the PPCC has a grievance committee to look into complaints during the bidding process.
He noted that if parties involved are not satisfied, they can go to the Civil Law Court or the Supreme Court to seek redress, rather than use media to create a smear campaign.

He pointed out that the PPCC will not give government contracts to Liberian contractors who do meet the requirements outlined in the bidding process, noting that contracts are not given to Liberian companies because they are Liberians, but because they meet all the requirements of the bidding process.

Jallah emphasized that the objective of the PPCC is to ensure that government’s money is utilized for value and not just to dish out tax payers’ money to Liberian companies without value or quality implementation of work awarded them.
