MONROVIA, June, 21 (LINA) - The management of the National Port Authority (NPA) and a delegation from South Africa have held talks aimed at exploring possibilities of investing in Liberia's seaport sector.

The delegation, according to a release issued by the NPA issued Tuesday, expressed the desire to partner with the NPA to further enhance port operations through marine training, infrastructure development and inter-modal means of transporting goods throughout Liberia.

The release quotes Robert Wellinton Gumede, head of delegation and a prominent South African businessman, as saying that the Ports of Liberia have huge investment potentials to help revive the country’s economy.

According to the release, Gumede made the comments following the delegation’s visit to the Port of Greenville and subsequent presentation by the NPA management of the prospects and ongoing developments taking place at the NPA.
Meanwhile, NPA Managing Director David Williams has expressed optimism over the delegation’s visit to the port.

He stressed that the port administration looks forward to partnership investment in the areas of infrastructure development, capacity building, and marine services.
