Minster Moore stated that if Liberian companies do not understand the process of developing bid documents, it would be difficult for them to be accepted in the award of contracts by international partners and even the Liberian Government.

The Public Works minister was speaking Monday at a one-day seminar on contractors’ capacity development in the preparation and submission of responsive tender documents.

The seminar held at the Public Works Ministry was attended by 64 Liberian companies from across the country to enhance their capacity in the bidding process in Liberia.

He noted that in the past, Liberian companies were not included in the bid or sub-contract for most contracts awarded to construct roads which were sponsored by international partners such as the World Bank and African Development Bank.

He indicated that the Ministry of Public Works has decided that contracts for feeder roads will now be awarded to Liberian contractors, but said they should meet the bidding requirements in line with the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) law.

Minister Moore stressed that the bidding process is essential for obtaining government contracts which are financed by international partners, noting that if Liberian companies should participate in the process, they must present adequate and comprehensive bidding documents to win government contracts.
