A protesting group of Representatives have been insisting that House Speaker Alex Tyler recuses himself from presiding over sessions since his indictment on allegations of bribery as alleged in a Global Witness report.

A total of 35 representatives believed to be a part of the anti-Tyler bloc, were marked absent after regular roll call of the body on Thursday, something some lawmakers term an "unprecedented attempt by the absentees to jeopardize legislative functions."

Sources close to the Liberia News Agency disclosed that in addition to the regular ringleader of the anti-Tyler bloc Edwin Snowe of Montserrado Country, the bloc has received a major boost as Deputy House Speaker Hans Barchue has thrown his weight behind them.

With only 31 of the 73 lawmakers present, the House of Representatives could not convene session on Tuesday.

However, the body was able to convene its regular session after the names of seven lawmakers who were distances away and who notified the body officially through a communication were added, thereby bringing the total number of lawmaker present to 38.

In a communication addressed to Speaker Tyler on Thursday, Nimba County lawmaker Larry Younquoi requested a prompt intervention of the House to curtail the continuous absence of their colleagues, as this also incapacitate them to attend Committee functions.

Following a discussion of Younquoi's communication, the Leadership Committee of the House was mandated to take charge of the matter through thorough investigation and inform plenary of its findings next Tuesday.
