Minister Tingba made the remarks Thursday at a program marking the 50th Anniversary of International Literacy Day held at the Ministry of Education on Third Street in the Monrovia suburb of Sinkor.
He noted that improving the education sector will require competent and qualified teachers to be in the classrooms providing quality education to Liberian children.
The Deputy Education Minister assured that government will ensure that the education payrolls and workforce are reformed to maintain quality standard in the sector, noting that there are lots of ghost names on the payroll.
Minister Tingba emphasized that education is the foundation to the human resource development of the country, noting that if quality education is not provided, the country's socio-economic development stands at risk.
