He said the IHR helps develop guidelines, technical materials and training, and fosters networks for sharing expertise and best practices.
According to him, it also helps strengthen the abilities of vulnerable countries to detect, assess and respond to public health threats.
The IHR is an international legal instrument that is binding on 196 countries across the globe, including all member states of the World Health Organization intended to help the international community prevent and respond to acute public health risks.
