MONROVIA, September 19 (LINA) – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has with immediate effect dismissed two of its officers and suspended seven others for time indefinite for their alleged involvement

in acts contrary to the police code of conduct.

An LNP release issued Sunday said Patrolmen William D.Z. Zubah and Theophilus Karsaw of the Traffic Section were dismissed for Desertion of Post and constant harassment and extortion of money from the public.

Those suspended for time indefinite are Patrolman Joseph D. Paye, Sam G. Tougbay, Elijay Veselee and Civilian staff Richard J. Taylor, while Inspectors James O. Kollie, Andy B. Blamo and Mohammed A. Sawyer were suspended for one month with salary deduction.

The release indicated that the action of the affected officers violated the section of the New Police Duty Manual dealing with “Prohibited Conduct”.

Meanwhile, the LNP has called on the public not to relent in reporting misconduct on the part of police officers in their communities.
