teachers involved in Monday’s violent demonstrations that led to the disruption of normal activities in some parts of the country.

Some students from few public schools in Margibi County set up roadblocks along the Monrovia-Robertsfield Highway and in Kakata City preventing normal activities in demand of their teachers’ return to the classroom.

According to an Executive Mansion release, President Sirleaf issued the directive on Wednesday, upon her arrival at the Roberts International Airport during an encounter with journalists following her successful participation in the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Liberian leader, who told journalists that she received news of the incident while in transit in Accra, Ghana, noted that the action carried out by the students was unfortunate, because it led to property and financial losses as passengers had to cancel their trips or miss their flights.

She added that the act of lawlessness carried out by the students also caused airlines to lose revenue and compelled some passengers to use motorbikes to meet check-in deadlines.
“No one has the right to infringe on the rights of others. If there are grievances, it does not give students any right to infringe on those of others,” she stressed.

President Sirleaf noted that action will be taken against schools found culpable following thorough investigation in order to serve as a deterrent to dissuade would-be violators who believe that taking the law into their own hands is a matter of right.

In another development, President Sirleaf on Wednesday made a brief stopover at the residence of Justice Minister and Attorney General Cllr. Frederick Cherue to sympathize with him and the family over the death of his daughter, Fredrica Cherue who died at the John F. Kennedy Hospital on Tuesday, September 27, after a brief illness.

At RIA, the Liberian leader was met by an array of government officials led by the acting Chair of the Cabinet, Defense Minister Brownie Samukai, Minister of State without Portfolio, Sylvester Grisgby, and the Chief of Protocol of the Republic of Liberia, among others.
