MONROVIA, October 2 (LINA) – The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) has announced that it will release the initial series of newly-printed banknotes ranging from L$01 to L$100 denominations.

CBL Executive Governor Milton Weeks said the series of the banknotes is guaranteed and has features that cannot be duplicated easily.
He also said the new banknotes contain portraits of ordinary Liberians on the front, and Liberian wildlife on the back.
Weeks said the CBL has ensured that the new series is printed on a higher quality substrate to guarantee longevity and reduce porosity.
The CBL governor was speaking recently when he presented specimen of the initial series of the newly printed banknotes to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf at her office in Monrovia.
Weeks explained that the new notes will replace the mutilated banknotes already in circulation.
He expressed gratitude to President Sirleaf for the support given the Central Bank in undertaking this task.
According to an Executive Mansion release, the Liberian leader commended Governor Weeks and his team for the hard work and level of professionalism.
In separate remarks, Vice President Joseph N. Boakai and Senate Pro-Tempore, Armah Jallah thanked Governor Weeks and team for a job well done and admonished the CBL to create more awareness on the handling of the new money by citizens.
