MONROVIA, December 15 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has, on behalf of the Heads of State of ECOWAS, congratulated Mr. Nana Akufo Addo, President-elect of Ghana on the occasion of his election as President of that West African nation.

In her message to Nana Akufo Addo, President Sirleaf, who is Chairperson of ECOWAS Head of Authority, also applauded the Government and People of Ghana for the peaceful conduct of the recent General and Presidential Elections in that country.

“We applaud the people of Ghana for further demonstrating an entrenched sustainable democratization of the Republic of Ghana. As you assume this herculean task of shaping the future of your great country, I entertain the hope that the cordial ties of friendship and cooperation subsisting between our two countries will be further strengthened through our bilateral facts,” the Chair of ECOWAS stressed.

According to an Executive Mansion release, President Sirleaf also expressed the hope that as President-elect Akufo Addo assumes the leadership of Ghana, the ties between Liberia and Ghana will be further strengthened as the two countries work together to deepen collaboration in the ECOWAS region and under the auspices of the African Union as well as the United Nations.

The Liberian President then prayed that the Almighty God will endow President-elect Nana Akufo Addo with increased wisdom and resilience to lead the people of Ghana to greater heights of prosperity and continued happiness during his tenure.
