GANTA, December 29 (LINA) - The Regional Education Officer (REO) of Education Region 2 says the Ministry of Education is in full support of the recent demotion of delinquent students, especially those in the Senior High Division.

Addressing journalists in Ganta Wednesday, Mr. George Wuo said the Education Ministry stands prepared to support such action by school administrators throughout the country, adding, "the action is geared towards transforming the educational system for the better'.”

Mr. Wuo was responding to concerns raised by journalists regarding the recent demotion of 48 senior students of the John Wesley Pearson High School in Ganta who performed dismally in the first marking period test.

The Education Supervisor of Bong, Margibi, Grand Bassa, Lofa and Nimba Counties pointed out that transforming the country's educational system comes with pain, especially when students and some school administrators have subscribed to doing the illegal things in the sector.

He called on every Liberian to embrace the change and help the government strengthen the system by not supporting their children in bypassing the right procedures.

Mr. Wuo also wants parents and guardians to encourage their kids to study their lessons and frowned on those who help in spoiling the system by facilitating bribery in schools through the purchase of grades.
