"As a matter of ethical journalistic practices, the institutions shall credit each other for new materials received and consult each other with regard to expanding cooperation for improving the quality of efficacy of news reporting.

The parties shall periodically inform each other of the quality of reception and utilization of their news services in their respective countries and dispute between the parties on the implementation of this MOU shall be settled amicably through consultations and/or negotiations,” according to the document.

Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Manging Director and Chief Executive Officer signed for NAN, while Mr. Jay Nagbe Sloh signed for LINA.

 In brief remarks prior to the signing ceremony, Mr. Sloh said LINA which is in a stage of resuscitation is in need of such collaboration to raise its work and status to that of news agencies such a NAN.

For his part, the Editor-In-Chief of NAN, Lawal D. Ado, who deputized for CEO Onanuga, lauded the new agreement, the success of which, he said, he anticipates.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Charge d’Affairs at the Embassy of Nigeria near Monrovis, Mohammed Tahir, and Peter Kahler, Deputy LINA Director General for Editorial Services.
