MONROVIA, March 27 (LINA) -The Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Boima Kamara, says domestic resource mobilization is an essential component of sustainable economic development.

Minister Kamara described resource mobilization as a process that reinforces the postulation that governance is inherent in the people and those people have an obligation to help formulate laws and policies that would improve their well-being.

The Finance Minister made the statement Monday at the official launch of the Real Estate Community Partnership Project held at the Monrovia City Hall.

He noted that enhancing domestic resource mobilization in Liberia is not just necessary, but an imperative to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as sustain economic and infrastructural development, noting that there has to be greater reliance on domestic resources.

He pointed out that international development partners cannot and will not foot Liberia’s bills indefinitely or do for Liberia what Liberians can do for themselves, noting that they also are subject to limitation of funds and a whole range of competing priorities.

Minister Kamara emphasized that Liberia must begin to find other viable and achievable mechanisms to support and sustain national priorities, adding that domestic resource mobilization is an excellent way to proceed.
