MONROVIA, March 28 (LINA) - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is challenging the private sector in Liberia to create jobs for Liberian youth.

According to Commerce Minister Axel Addy, Liberian youth do not feel a part of the success stories within the private sector because they are largely unemployed.

Minister Addy made the remarks Monday as members of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce elected a new president. The program was held at the Chamber of Commerce office on Capitol Hill in Monrovia.

He reiterated government’s commitment to improve the business environment by establishing industries and manufacturing companies to create jobs in the country.

Minister Addy emphasized that creating jobs for the youthful population is a priority for all governments in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and that the Liberian Government is encouraging more production in Liberia to create the environment for job opportunities.
