In meetings with both Democratic and Republican members of both Houses of Congress, including members of the Committees on Appropriations and Foreign Relations, the Liberian leader will make the case for increased US support for Liberia's post-Ebola recovery.

On Wednesday, the President and delegation met with the President of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC),Elizabeth Littlefield and the Acting Administrator of USAID ,Ambassador Lenhardt as well as the President of the Millennium Challenge Corporation ( MCC ), Dana Hyde.

The Liberian leader stressed the urgency in exploring flexible and creative ways to assist Liberia continue along its path of reclaiming its future which was threatened by Ebola.

"To continue to do this," the President said, "Liberia needs to be supported in its post-Ebola recovery program which prioritizes health, education, agriculture and infrastructure."

She insisted that as Liberia progressively gets to zero new cases, this was the time to embark upon the initiatives that would enable the country stay at zero.

President Sirleaf is on a three-day official visit to the United States. She meets Secretary of State John Kerry and President Barack Obama on Friday.
